"THE QUESTION WHY. . ."

The Modern Mind: Spiritual Pragmatism - Political Pragmatism

The previous Pope John Paul II, had a secret Covenant with GOD...

Now you have to understand this.

It is very significant to understand this:

The reason that people felt so attracted to the last Pope, particularly at the point of the burial, was not just because he was a Great Personality...

But because there was, what we call, absolute surrender to the WILL OF GOD...

Through his personality maturing and becoming aware of this Ultimate Covenant with the One Eternal GOD, what we call, in all religious structures, the surrendering of the ego, the I, the me to The One Whole Being of Creation - The Totality.

We exist as an individual, but our totality exists in GOD...

What we call...

I don't like to use the word GOD because for so many people it has negative connotations through certain unfortunate experiences.

The Totality of Existence. The All-Pervading Totality Of Existence, is a ONENESS, is a TOTALITY... even science understands this.

And the last Pope understood that he has a Covenant with this Totality.

And the reason that people feel that he was a Saint and they wanted him canonized at the end, after his death, after his passing, is because they sensed his bond to the Totality which is what they want.

And they went there to honor him as they honor themselves in their relationship to the Totality.

That's why it goes beyond the logical mind. This simple logic of a logical mind.

That's why it cannot be understood in simplistic logical terms.

One cannot logically rationalize GOD.

GOD is beyond the scope of the human mind because GOD is NOT a limited factor.

The mind is a limited factor.

Nothing limited can consider something unlimited except, by calling it, defining it, as something outside its limits.

But as soon as we understand ourselves to be unlimited, which is our Spiritual capacity, then we understand GOD... what we call Christ-Consciousness.

The Universal Christ is ONENESS with this TOTALITY.

To be One with the Father:

"I and the Father are One."

Heaven and Earth are One.

GOD and Man are One.

The disparity we see between Heaven and Earth, Good and evil, rich and poor, right and wrong, belief and disbelief, anarchy and order - it comes out of the mind.

Our mind - our individual mind and the cumulative effect of our group mind causes all the problems, all of the disparity.

So when people came to honor the passing of the last Pope, it was their Spiritual Greatness in themselves which came to honor him. It was not their simple humanity or their own individuality which came to honor the passing of the last Pope but it was their Greatness, their Spiritual Greatness and all of the leaders, all of the people of the world who were honoring, were not honoring a man, they were honoring the Divinity within themselves and the Divinity within all beings.

So in that moment that was the Universal Church.

It was not a doctrine.

It was not a philosophy.

It was not a belief.

It was a fundamental Spiritual Reality of The Totality.

There was no hair-splitting going on. There was no arguments about how many angels can dance on the head of a pin. That is actually what got us into all these troubles:

It is the mind's attempt to grasp the infinite.

And so it plays all these little mind games...

And Buddhism, among other religions, many religions, have found methods of overcoming the mind.

The mind is not something bad that we have to destroy.

The mind is something which is a tool, a necessary tool, of our existence, particularly in our physicality.

The mind is a necessary part of our individuality and of our larger society.

To understand each other, to experience each other.

But it should never become a tool of domination.

Either of one's own Spirit or of anyone else's Spirit.

And this is where the mind has gone too far with it's attempt to organize.

And because the mind is expressed in the form of government we have... the governments...

What we experience as evil, is the overreaching of this mind - this process called mind - and that's where evil comes.

There is no evil except when there is an inappropriate situation where there is an imbalance - where there is too much of one thing and too little of another.

So the evil in the world today - if we would call it that - is nothing other than an imbalance of the expression of the mind in its attempt to understand.

It has tried to organize things to a point where it cannot organize.

It has gone beyond its capacities and it is invading spheres it shouldn't invade.

Government has no place in the bedrooms of the nations.

Governments have no place in the churches of the nations.

Government is a wonderful institution.

It is the most wonderful institution of human civilization's organization.

It is brilliant.

It has intelligence.

It is genius.

It has order, it has capacities, it has effectivity.

But government doesn't have a Heart and a Soul and a Spirit.

It has to get Spiritual inspiration from the people.

You see all government which is directed by the spiritual integrity of the people is good and benevolent.

Any government which breaks away from the Heart, the Soul of the people - the spiritual guidance of the people - becomes a source of pain and suffering.

A source of indignity.

A source of mistakes.

'Misapplication of the mind' is the most appropriate term I can find for it.

It is a logic tree like in a computer program which is completely devoid of meaning and purpose and just runs a program.

And this alienation between the Spirit of GOD and Man and the organization of what we call our physical world - is what has caused pain and suffering - disparity which I call pain and suffering.

This is what, among other religions, Buddhism teaches to recognize is that an individual has a responsibility towards a benevolent expression of mind thereby becoming part of the solution instead of part of the problem.

The aggression of government against the people or from terrorists against the government or against the people are all expressions of energy of thought through some mind.

And what it is attempting to do is - it is attempting to solve a problem with another problem.

Buddhism knows one can never solve one problem by causing another problem.

It just sets another set of circumstances in motion which lead to a similar disagreeable condition.

This is very difficult for the human mind to grasp because the human mind is struggling right now with meaning.

Because it has disconnected itself from the Source of its Meaning which is the Totality, the Spiritual Totality, the Cosmic Totality...

And this re-Awakening what we talked about today - what I call 'The Emergence' - when the butterfly comes out of the cocoon - is the Spiritual re-awakening of man's full potential.

The Spiritual Nature taking the more predominant and balanced role in the equation of human life, human society and the world.

When you see what role does religion play, what role do the churches play, the religious organizations - the belief structures of the world...

To the degree that their benevolence and their practice of benevolence frees the human mind from totalitarian-isms, it heals our condition.

We have no physical problems we cannot solve.

We can solve any physical problem on the face of the earth millions of times over.

We have no problem on the earth any more.

The problems are all sitting in the minds.

In the minds of individuals and in the minds of governments.

So we have all these individual minds arguing, how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.

And while they are arguing about these theoretical suppositions, we forget about the Dignity of the Human Soul, the Human Spirit, the Human kind.

We forget about the Dignity of our Brothers and our Sisters, our Mothers and our Fathers, our Uncles and our Aunts... our Children.

We forget about the True Purpose of our existence.

And in forgetting, we lose the incentive to live at all.

Why get up in the morning? Why go to work? Why provide goods and services? Why solve problems at all of any kind?

Why go out into the universe and chart other planetary regions, other solar systems, other dimensionalities?

Why do that at all?

Every individual asks himself that question not once but many times every day.

The question WHY has become so routine that we don't even realize it any more!

And the answer to that question is closer than our fingertips!

Thank you."
